Meet in a safe public or professional setting where possible. Take another adult, tell someone where you are going and avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
- Use a veterinary practice or welfare organisation as a neutral meeting point when possible.
- Confirm ownership calmly and responsibly.
- Contact law enforcement or the relevant welfare organisation when threats or cruelty are involved.
